Singapore Introduces New Measures to Curb Covid-19 Spike

Enhanced Safe Management Measures

Reduced Social Gatherings

Singapore has implemented new measures to curb the recent spike in Covid-19 cases. From July 22, social gatherings will be limited to five persons, and individuals are advised to minimize social interactions outside of their households.

Mandatory Mask-Wearing

Mask-wearing is now mandatory in all indoor settings, including workplaces, shopping malls, and public transport. The government has also encouraged the use of masks in crowded outdoor areas.

Increased Testing and Contact Tracing

The government has ramped up testing and contact tracing efforts to identify and isolate infected individuals. Asymptomatic individuals who have been in close contact with confirmed cases will be issued Health Risk Warnings and required to self-isolate.

Vaccination Program

Accelerated Vaccination Rollout

The government has accelerated its vaccination rollout, with a target of vaccinating 80% of the population by the end of the year. Walk-in vaccination slots have been made available at vaccination centers and selected polyclinics.

Booster Shots for Seniors

Booster shots are being offered to seniors aged 60 years and above to enhance their protection against the virus. Individuals who have completed their primary vaccination series are eligible for booster shots.

Travel Restrictions

Suspension of Vaccinated Travel Lanes

The government has suspended the Vaccinated Travel Lanes (VTLs) with Malaysia and Germany due to the rising number of Covid-19 cases in both countries. Travelers who have recently visited these countries will be subject to stricter quarantine requirements.

Pre-Departure Tests for Short-Term Visitors

Short-term visitors who have not been fully vaccinated must present a negative pre-departure test result taken within 48 hours before their arrival in Singapore.

Conclusion

The Singapore government's latest measures aim to curb the recent spike in Covid-19 cases and protect the health and safety of the population. The government urges everyone to cooperate with these measures and to take personal responsibility in preventing the spread of the virus.
